Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica perform at Le Sion Festival
Being a part of Le Sion Festival has become a tradition for Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica, just as it has become a tradition to bring to life new and unconventional projects there. This year during Le Sion Festival Kremerata Baltica and soloists Gidon Kremer, Ieva Parsa and Lukas Geniušas treated the audience with a musical project with silent visuals “Chronicle of Current Events”. The project is developed by Gidon Kremer and a group of visual artists from Russia: director Artem Firsanov, scriptwriter Valeriy Pecheykin and cameraman Aleksey Venzos under the curatorship of Kirill Serebrennikov. The “Chronicle of Current Events” is an artist’s opposition to power and is dedicated to the centenary of Mieczysław Weinberg’s birth. Chronicle of Current Events is created in co-production with Holland Festival, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Berlin Konzerthaus, Leipzig Gewandhaus and Kremerata Baltica.
Kremerata Baltica has performed Shostakovich’s “Antiformalists Gallery” with our dear friend Alexei Mochalov. Also, it was a great pleasure to meet and play with the violinist Gilles Apap, who puts a completely different light on the performance of classical repertoire. It was truly great fun!
We are looking forward to be back in Sion! And now we are sharing with you a few pictures from Maestro of photography at Le Sion Festival Claude Dussez.
